The Elections System of the Virgin Islands proudly recognizes Election Hero Day scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, a special occasion dedicated to honoring the thousands of election workers, volunteers, and administrators whose commitment, professionalism, and integrity help ensure free, fair, and accessible elections for all citizens.

Election Heroes work behind the scenes and on the front lines to register voters, prepare polling locations, assist voters, process ballots, and uphold the integrity of the electoral process. Their dedication makes it possible for communities to exercise one of the most fundamental rights in a democracy: the right to vote.

“Election Hero Day is an opportunity to thank the individuals who devote countless hours to serving the public and safeguarding our democratic process,” said Caroline F. Fawkes, Supervisor of Elections. “Their hard work, impartiality, and commitment to excellence ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard.”

This year’s observance highlights the importance of civic engagement and encourages residents to learn more about election administration, volunteer opportunities, and the critical role election workers play in maintaining public trust in elections.

Communities are encouraged to join the celebration by recognizing local election officials, poll workers, and volunteers whose service helps make elections fair, accessible, secure, and transparent.
